World Mental Health Day!
Today is World Mental Health Day!
We believe this day is particularly important for LGBTQIAPN+ people for several reasons:
Increased Vulnerability: LGBTQIAPN+ individuals often face discrimination, stigma, and social exclusion, which can lead to higher rates of mental health issues.
Awareness and Education: The day promotes awareness of mental health issues, helping to educate the broader public and reduce stigma.
Community Solidarity: Events and discussions around this day foster a sense of community and support.
Advocacy for Rights: It also emphasises the need for ongoing advocacy for mental health rights and protections for LGBTQIAPN+ people.
Overall, World Mental Health Day helps to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for LGBTQIAPN+ individuals, promoting mental well-being and resilience.
Why is this important? 🏳️🌈
In Melbourne, nearly 75% of LGBTIQ folks have considered suicide at some point, and 60.5% have faced depression. By coming together, we can tackle social isolation and support each other’s mental health.
Together we are stronger! Xx
